Why is Janet Appleby running for office? The answer is found in the life of her son, Bryce. Born prematurely, Bryce spent the first four weeks of his life in the NICU and was eventually diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy. In spite of these challenges, he survived. They began a journey that would lead them to learn the real meaning of life—LOVE. Her life came to center on his needs: therapy, medical appointments, support services –the list was endless. Nevertheless, his life filled with joy and happiness. He made friends with the best of people, and in turn, brought out their best. Through Bryce, Janet became a tireless advocate, learning the importance of compassion, strong public schools with inclusion, quality healthcare, and how hard the fight is to get what is needed. Janet is bringing that firsthand experience and fight to District 32. After a lifetime of advocating for her son, Janet is ready to advocate for her community.
